Mysuru : Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC), based in Mysuru, which manages the distribution of electricity in five districts of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan and Kodagu, has submitted a proposal to the state government to identify 150 charging point station in five neighborhoods.
Among them, 10 charging stations will be installed on the Bengaluru –Mysuru 10-lane economic corridor from Maddur to Mysuru, where the CESC has its jurisdiction.

10 electric vehicle charging stations will be installed by Maddur in Mysuru on the Mysuru-Bengaluru 10-lane economic corridor and a request has already been sent to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) which is building the corridor. “The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited has asked the NHAI to identify places including toll plazas, rest areas and restaurants along the Corridor where vehicles stop and at the same time can take a break until the vehicle is fully loaded, ”explained by Managing Director of CESC.
NHAI is already planning to install several electric vehicles charging stations that will help modernize the electric vehicle infrastructure in India. The plan is part of the real estate development along the national roads. According to sources, NHAI has recognized more than 650 assets in 22 states with a joint area of over 3,000 acres for road infrastructure development.
Installing electric vehicle charging stations along national highways will be of great help to electric vehicle owners in India, who are often concerned about the limits of using battery-powered cars for long-distance travel. There are currently too few electric vehicle charging stations along highways to meet the needs of proprietary electric vehicles. The installation of electric vehicle charging stations along national highways is also likely to foster the culture of electric vehicles in the country.
As part of the Phase II program to accelerate the adoption and production of (hybrid and) electric vehicles in India (FAME India), 184 electric vehicle charging stations have been offered on 9 highways, including the Mysore Bengaluru corridor. .
The charging stations for electric vehicles that Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited has proposed would be implemented according to the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited will incur no costs. “The NHAI will allocate the land and the individual requesting the tender or supply contact will load the vehicles and keep the load units. Only the energy will be supplied by the CESC and the energy prices will be invoiced at the unit rates in force.
